Save Time & Money and Get Pain-Free Faster
Balanced Fitness and Health is a cash-based clinic. The reason for this is it allows us to provide better care to our patients while saving the patient time and money. However, there are some misunderstandings on how cash-based care differs from insurance-based, so I thought it would be appropriate to address some questions you may have.
Why pay cash for your physical or occupational therapy?
If you have been to a traditional physical therapy clinic, you were probably asked to come in 2-3 times per week for a certain length of time depending on the nature of your injury and what your insurance company allows. Each appointment was probably 30 minutes long, and your therapist, through no fault of their own, probably had to spread their time and attention among more than one patient during your appointment time. In reality, you probably only spent 20 minutes one-on-one with your therapist during that appointment. The rest of the time, you may have been with an assistant or performing an unsupervised activity. While this isn’t the case for all clinics, it is the growing trend for insurance-based clinics to operate this way.
Balanced Fitness & Health is different. Unlike insurance-based physical therapy and physician clinics, we are not limited to working with a single diagnosis. We are able to look at the body as a whole determining why you have pain and where it truly originates from. Then we can treat all the areas associated with your pain, not just a single joint. We can also address other issues associated with pain such as stress management, relaxation techniques and weight loss to help decrease pain. Thus,
If your back pain originates from a previous ankle injury, we work on both areas.
If nutrition and core strength are issues, we can help you with that, too!
This is key, because truly treating pain involves looking at the “whole” person.
Cost Breakdown of Cash Pay vs. Traditional
Let’s take a look at the costs of an insurance-based clinic compared to the cost of going to a cash-based clinic. An average physical therapy co-pay is $40 for a 30-minute session. If a patient goes to an insurance-based clinic 3 times per week, they would be spending $120 per week in co-pays alone—this doesn’t even factor in the deductible, which could double the cost. That is $120 for approximately 60 minutes of one-on-one therapy.
At our cash-based clinic, we are able to spend more time with you (55 minutes per visit) since we only see one patient at a time, therefore getting faster results in fewer visits. Plus, you pay less than $100 per 55-minute session.
At the end of the program, you will not receive a surprise bill from us to cover a deductible. Instead, you may actually get reimbursement directly from your insurance company (reimbursements vary based on each patient’s personal policy).
Remember, other clinics cannot treat multiple symptoms with one visit. We can! We always strive to give you more treatment for your money at Balanced Fitness & Health.

Assisting with Insurance
Patients pay with cash, check, credit or debit cards, including Health Savings Account cards. There are no hidden charges, and the charge never changes based on the interventions we use.
As our patient, we provide you with an invoice at the time of service, and you submit that invoice to your insurance company for reimbursement. The invoice contains all the necessary information. It also contains a statement that you have paid in full for the visit and that reimbursement should go directly to you.
Insurance companies reimburse patients according to their out-of-network benefits, which varies widely from one company to another.
